Tascam DP01FX 8-Track Hard Disk Recorder with FX

Product details

Product description

Twenty-five years after the introduction of the first Portastudio, the new DP-01FX 8-track Digital Portastudio makes hard disk recording affordable and simple enough for all musicians. Continuing Tascam’s "Capture Your Art" campaign of making recording approachable to all musicians, the DP-01 FX features the one-knob-per-function design that has made Tascam cassette Portastudios the choice of thousands of musicians. Both workstations shatter the confusing page-shift-menu interface popular with most other digital recorders.

Feature:
For the price I paid it’s ok. I don’t like the EQ on it because it’s only 2 band and you can’t change the frequencies on the EQ while the track is playing. The effects aren’t great for vocals so I had to get an external effects processor, but above all that, most importantly to me is that YOU CAN’T MIX YOUR OVERDUB ONTO THE SAME TRACK. IT REPLACES WHAT YOU RECORD WHEN YOU ARE PUNCHING IN. UGHHH!!

Quality:
It works fine for recording. I don’t use alot of the features(mainly just the volume sliders , pan, and the returns and sends). For effects and EQ and such I use rack gear.

Desirability:
I don’t like the way it’s made. Meaning the weird shape.lol.

Sound:
the overall sound is ok...considering you are using a decent condensor mic and rack gear.

Support:
I have been calling and calling and calling, still haven’t talked to anyone. From the looks of things neither has anyone else.....What’s going on Tascam?

Overall:
Overall it does the main thing I needed it to do(record). I needed a digital recorder for cheap and I got one.
